Toy Cavoodle takes top spot in SPCA fundraiser dog calendar

Must read

A two-year-old Toy Cavoodle called Coco has taken out the cover spot in the SPCA’s annual dog calendar fundraiser.

The charity said the calendar competition, Pets of the Year, had had another incredible round of entrants this year, with hundreds of adorable profiles attracting widespread voting to determine who would become the cover stars of the cat and dog calendars for 2026.

“1,349 pet profiles were created, and animal lovers made generous donations to these profiles to determine the cover stars,” it said.

The event raised an incredible $92,013 for animals in need.

Coco’s profile raised $2,710 in donations.

The SPCA said every dollar raised from both the competition itself and the sales of the calendars would go directly to helping the abused, neglected and vulnerable animals in its care.

“Pets of the Year has been proudly supported by our friends at The Coffee Club – we’d like to say a huge thank you for their wonderful support.

“Their generosity helps make this special fundraiser possible, and supports animals in need across Aotearoa,” it said.

The cat calendar winner was four-time reigning champion Deli Department, a loveable ginger cat who raised a whopping $5,474 in donations.

All profiles which raised $150 or more will feature in the 2026 cat or dog calendar, and top fundraisers have also won some prizes from Harvey Norman and Purina.

Production of the calendars is underway, and are available to pre-order now.
